Sun started his racing career on dirt, then on turf and his final race was as a steeplechaser, so he has seen a bit of everything at the track. He is definitely a strong and bold natured horse, but needs his training to be consistent and methodical and does best being ridden 5 days a week so he is not starting over every week. He flashes in and out of a work ethic and confidence, so he will require an advanced rider to keep him on track because he is big and strong and not a child’s horse. We have been taking our time with him, rebuilding lost muscle tone and helping him to gain confidence which is what he will need to continue to do. Even though he is well balanced, at this time we have been focusing on trot work before working on his canter which is big and forward. He does have a lovely canter which he can collect at will as he is playing in turn out. Sun has a big personality that is part of his charm and helps make him the athlete he is. His photos demonstrate the change he gone through as the lighter photos were taken in July and the rest were taken in October.
Turn out is a must so he can stretch his limbs and he loves time out with his buddy. He will play, but is not the initiator and is a good turn out friend. Sun has no vices and should be suitable for most disciplines for an advanced rider.
