Risetotheoccasion is a kind, gentle soul who just wants to be loved on. He actually loves having his ears rubbed! We got a short video but he has some days where he really gets in to it and leans against you for more. He is lovely to work around and appreciates a soft, quiet handler. He can get intimidated if someone is too rowdy, he wants so badly to please that he responds to slight cues. He is a solid member of society in the field, middle of the pack and blends in easily. His current turnout group is all quieter so no one gets bullied or is too rowdy. He does not have any stall vices.
Rise is just as honest under saddle. He has done everything asked of him, putting his head down and going right to work. He rides alone or with traffic no problem. He is not a spooky horse, if something were to worry him it is usually something he has legitimately never encountered before and would even get my attention. Your heart will melt because all he does is widen his eyes and maybe take a sidestep before immediately responding to your reassurance. We are hoping Mother Nature will give us a break soon so we can start going for trail rides again and Im certain Rise will love exploring. Rise was claimed away from his racing owners but they kept track of him and bought him back at the first opportunity. They made sure he was fully healthy before sending him to New Vocations and are as excited as we are to see whats next for him. They have always hoped he would be able to be used as a therapy horse since he had always been so gentle, even as a fit racehorse. It is not out of the question for the right situation and I believe he will also make a wonderful pleasure/trail partner. Rise would do well with a low intermediate rider in flatwork disciplines only.
