Pontificate is a fun, flashy guy. He is a total busy body and is always worried about what everyone else is doing. He also likes to talk to everyone, in the barn and in the ring. He does best when turned out in a group, he can get overly bonded if he has only one pasturemate and is not happy alone. Pontificate is a follower in the field, he just wants to be where his friends are. He is very easy to handle and stands well for the farrier but can get antsy if there is a lot of activity (please note: not nervous per se, more like he does not want to be left out or left behind from the party!). He does not generally have any stall vices but if left inside alone he may try to stall walk.
Pontificate is quite lovely under saddle. He has a flat-kneed hunter trot and does like to stretch low. Of course, he decided to carry his head high for his video but he does offer to stretch down most days. Aside from calling to his friends he is remarkably settled under saddle. He will trot all day but is reluctant to canter so he will need a more advanced rider. Pontificate was retired with a bowed tendon which has been fully rehabbed and is suitable for jumping careers.
