Every once in a while you come across a horse that is of above average intelligence which you can see in their eyes, in the way they quickly sort people out and how easily they can communicate their thoughts and wishes to you. Picko is that horse. It should be of no surprise because he had a successful racing career including being a Stakes winner with a record of 8-8-3, so intelligence plays a part in that. It also gave him a great work ethic and he has been very consistent under saddle, always just doing his job. What he really enjoys though is trail riding because every ride is a fun adventure to him and it satisfies his curiosity of new things to check out. He marches right along by himself with a bright expression, happy to be out and about. He would be suitable for an intermediate level rider for low level disciplines and he has no vices. An under saddle video will be taken soon.
Picko does not allow anyone to pick on him so he has been a good match for the tougher geldings for turn out. They will run and play together with Picko always making sure he wins the sprint to the other end of the pasture before turning his attention back to playing again. He is respectful to handle, but is not a deadhead, and loves to be in the middle of every conversation.
