Lucy is a very kind mare who loves people, but somewhere in her past, she’s learned some self preservation. She does best when worked daily–this girl loves a routine! Similar to a kid, Lucy needs some ground rules. The longer she’s here and the more she gets to know us, Lucy has become quite engaging with everyone with better ground manners.
Lucy is turned out with two other mares who have very different personalities. Neither one rattles her composure, even though they are both much younger and playful. Lucy will happily go to the far side of the pasture to quietly graze on her own, but the youngsters have been observing and now look to her as a role model; she has established herself as a good babysitter.
Under saddle she is a very methodical mare who needs to be comfortable with step A before going on to step B or she can protest if pushed faster than her comprehension level. Lucy will try if she thinks the rider is being fair and clear in what they are asking; occasionally we have to just stay the course as Lucy determines if what you ask is doable or not.
This is a mare who will make a loyal partner once she bonds with her person. Lucy is in need of an advanced rider or professional to bring her along slowly and confidently. Lucy loves attention and is good for grooming with no vices. Lucy shows nice movement; she is a cute dressage prospect, but she has no known injuries, so she should be suitable for any discipline.
