Mattea J is a 16 year old pacing gelding that raced until he was seven years old and retired sound. He raced 116 starts and earned $63K racing in Michigan. When he arrived at 12 years old he was starting to have some sway to his back. Now at 16 he does have Lordosis. Upon arrival back to New Vocations, he has been thoroughly checked by our veterinarian and cleared to be a companion horse. He is not in any pain and does not take any special care. For the past seven years he was in a home that used him for their family to ride and enjoy. He is not recommended any longer to be a riding horse, but is a very sweet horse. MJ has a kind, smart eye. He was well loved as a racehorse, which is why he came to NV the first time. His current family could no longer afford to keep him. This sweet horse is looking to be someone’s pet, a babysitter horse, or companion to other horses. He gets along with other horses and has zero problem getting around. MJ is like any other horse in all other aspects. Please consider giving this pretty gelding a chance! New Vocations is happy to cover the expense of shipping MJ to his new home as well!!
