“Dom” is a lovable teddy bear of a horse! He not only has striking good looks and soft, soulful eyes, but also he has the personality to match. You wouldn’t expect this mellow guy to be only 4 years old, because he acts so mature for his age. Every once in a while his goofy side shows, but he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Dom is also quite willing to please and loves positive reinforcement both in and out of the saddle.
If Dom’s build, with his balanced, uphill conformation, and shoulder/ haunch angles don’t convince you that this guy is an attractive sport horse prospect, his movement will! He is a pleasure to ride, with a big stride that covers ground, while feeling like a recliner seat in the saddle. Dom is very level-headed and bold as well, so he is generally tackles new situations head-on with courage. Flying lead changes are no big deal to this guy– he does them without effort. Incorporating poles into his ground work didn’t faze him at all either.
Dom is exceptionally easy to handle on the ground too. He is a gentleman and will walk right next to you, stopping when you stop. He doesn’t mind getting brushed and manicured– he loves the attention. In turnout, he likes to see his buddies but he is fine being turned out individually. He prefers to only have partial day turnout though, at least in the summer, because he is not a big fan of flies!
The vet and farrier love him because he is so easy to work with. This big love bug is the whole package! He even has several big-name relatives, like Girolamo, A.P. Indy, Seattle Slew, and Secretariat.
Dom has all the qualities of a stellar low-level sport horse and he is looking for the right person to bring him to his full potential!
