Johnutoberry is a handsome, 16 hand pacing gelding that only qualified one start as a two year old and although very well bred (By Art Major) it was easy to see he did not have the speed of a top racehorse so he was turned out to get more mature and brought back this year, but still did not show the speed so was sent to New Vocations to start his second career!
“John” is a beefcake of a horse. He is young and sometimes acts shy, but he is sturdy and very willing to learn. In the barn, John loves to get attention and is very attentive to what everyone is doing. He also stands well for the farrier, vet, grooming and blanketing.
He gets along well with all the other horses and likes to be a ‘follower’ in turnout. John prefers to be outside as much as possible, and enjoys all the turnout he can get. He would do best in a home where he can have ample access to turnout every day.
John also enjoys going on trail rides, and is content to just go on strolls or go on an adventure and bushwhack with a buddy. He paces still, but has quickly and comfortably learned to trot. John is incredibly brave, even when he is in new scenarios. With a calm, confident partner who can encourage his progress, he will undoubtedly continue to flourish. This classy gelding retired sound and could easily do just about anything. He has been ridden both English and Western. He could also be driven. He has had lots of time being ridden in an indoor arena, trails and in our outdoor. John has a great look about him, he is young and loves a job. He will make a super trail or show horse! Unlimited possibilities with this nice gelding!
