15 hands of sweet and sassy is what Miss “Hula Lu” has to offer! This kind and elegant 11 year old mare was bred, raced and owned by the same person who watched her as a foal go on to be a nice racehorse at Northfield Park for her entire career. Wanting to see Hula Lu thrive in as a riding horse, they contacted New Vocations to assist in matching her with a loving home, although very hard for them to do. With the same trainer her entire life, Hula Lu thrives on routine, consistency and wanting to connect with her people. She transitioned under saddle quickly and has shown she enjoys both trotting and pacing under saddle. Hula Lu loves being asked to do patterns and do new things in the arena like patterns and bending.
This very pretty girl is easy to have around and is a primed professional for all the basics like shoeing, bathing, loading, stands in the crossties, and loves attention. She is going out with other mares and gets along well with her friends. For someone looking for a nice trail horse or show horse. Hula Lu is exactly what the Standardbred breed is about: strong, sound and able to withstand training and racing to go on and be a nice riding horse. Hula Lu will not be suitable as a driving horse.
