Endymion Parade is truly exceptional! He is sired by multiple G1 wining sire Galileo(IRE), who is one of the leading race sires in the entire world. Galileo(IRE) was described as a three-year-old as being “one of the most impeccably bred horses in training”. Endymion is not lacking star power in his dam’s bloodlines either. He is a strikingly beautiful individual as you would expect and has that extra air of confidence. He thinks he is quite the hotshot in the field. Thanks to some bigger, tougher boys he was given a necessary ego check to become a good herd member. He does well in group turnout and is an easy keeper. He carries good condition and makes sure to eat every bite of his grain. Endymion prefers to be left alone to eat and can generally make ugly faces in his stall. He does not actually do anything, just puts on a show. We find him to be quite humorous and tease him from time to time. He does not have any stall vices like cribbing or weaving.
Endymion is just as confident under saddle, marching around both the arena and the trails. He is in absolutely no hurry to get anywhere and requires a lot of leg. He is a beautiful mover and we think he will be quite special. Endymion will need a take charge rider as he has a sly sense of humor. He is 95% lazy but just when he thinks you aren’t paying attention on the trail, he will dive off in to the farmer’s crops for a tasty treat! He is not spooky but has a sense of humor and will use it as a trick to pull a fast one on a rider he thinks he can take advantage of. Endymion is extremely intelligent. An advanced rider or a confident intermediate rider working with a trainer will surely develop this young character in to quite the show star. He did not make it to the races due to a bowed tendon which has been fully rehabbed. He is ready to pursue a career in most disciplines, including jumping.
Fun fact, the Endymion Parade is the main event of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It was founded in 1966 and named after Endymion in Greek mythology. In mythology, Endymion was variously a handsome Aeolian shepherd, hunter, or king who was said to rule and live at Olympia in Elis.
