Don’t Point is a 5yr old gelding who is almost white with dark points. After a bath, his coat is almost blinding in the sun! He loves to have his neck scratched and accepts kisses and pats on the nose. Pointer easily takes the bit when being tacked, though he sometimes tries to nip when putting the saddle on. Even then, he stands mostly still while you tack him. He is best turned out alone. Pointer is also best in a stall situation with solid walls between neighbors, he does not care to touch noses with them. He does not crib or weave though.
Pointer has really pretty floaty movement under saddle. He makes the rider work a bit for him to start to frame but once he gives it to you, you can release and he will stay framed. He picks up both leads very easily if you set him up correctly. He seems to have gotten away with bad habits so he will test his rider. It helps to carry a crop. Pointer’s previous adopter indicated that he did not seem to like jumping but he has been.willing to go over crossrails for us although he is just a bit lazy with his feet. He needs a lot of leg and encouragement to remind him to pick them up. He is suitable for all disciplines though he does not appear to have upper level talent over fences. He will need an advanced rider only.
Don’t Point came to us through NYTHA’s Take The Lead Program and we greatly appreciate their support!
