Description

Conquest Archie is a typical young gelding in that he loves to be a goofball. As evident in his pictures, he takes full advantage of turnout time with his buddies to play (all the marks are superficial though and will grow out in no time!). Conquest always gets us to laugh— whether by trying to eat his halter as we’re trying to get it on him, or walking right up to you to put his head in your chest. It’s hard not to love him, especially because at the root of it all, he is a very lovable guy.

Conquest loves attention and seeks to please, especially under saddle. While he is the class clown on the ground, he is a hard worker under saddle and shows a lot of potential. Conquest works hard to please, and it shows because he learns and improves with every ride! Conquest would do best with an experienced rider who wants to stick to flat work only (no jumping) disciplines. He has no stall vices and is a seasoned pro with the vet, farrier and clipping. This stellar guy is ready to go on to his forever home!

Archie is eligible for the 2018 TB Makeover as well as the Retrained & Remarkable Challenge. As such, he will receive a shipping credit of up to $500, and an invitation to compete in Challenge-specific classes at the 2019 New Vocations Charity Horse Shows in Kentucky and Ohio. R&R adopters who choose to participate in the competition will be eligible to compete for $5,000 in cash and prizes; they will also receive a FREE stall at either Charity horse show and FREE entry into Challenge classes.

ADOPTION FEE POLICY

New Vocations’ adoption fees are intentionally set lower than the cost of buying most Thoroughbreds or Standardbreds through a private seller. In today’s market, it’s not unusual for horses coming right off the track to be listed for sale at a price between $2,000 and $5,000. At New Vocations, a fee is set for each horse that will ultimately help the horse find a home quickly. The program’s facilities are always at full capacity, which means the program cannot take in an additional horse until one is adopted. Adopters should be encouraged to know that by adopting a horse through New Vocations, they are actually helping two horses transition to careers outside of racing.

Additionally, adopters get great value for their money: The majority of the horses have been in the program for a minimum of 60 days. During that time, horses are rehabilitated (if needed), socialized with other horses, fully evaluated and worked with by a professional trainer. New Vocations fully discloses the history of each horse and provides all available medical records, many of which include X-ray and ultrasounds.

While adoption fees are low, it should be noted that the costs associated with the ongoing care and additional training for each horse post-adoption can be high. New Vocations hopes that by helping an adopter save money upfront that he or she will have more funds available to cover the ongoing costs of properly caring for a horse.
