“Bert” is a gentle soul in a handsome package! Bert is a very cheerful horse, who happily chirps a whinny to those who pass by his stall– especially if he thinks there might be a treat in it for him! He LOVES getting attention, whether it’s through grooming or trying to nuzzle the farrier while he’s getting worked on. He stands very calmly and is an easy patient for the vet. Bert’s friendliness extends to his barn mates as well, and he is always eager to stick a nose out to sniff a new buddy. Scratching his head easily sends Bert into a state of sleepy zen and you’ll instantly make a new best friend.
In turnout, Bert likes to have a friend, but he is okay to be on his own as well. He is a slighter build than some of the other horses, but he is never picked on– he get’s along with any horse he is turnout out with. He would also be content to be outside all day, as long as the weather isn’t too extreme!
Under saddle, Bert is happiest outside on trails– he doesn’t even mind bush-whacking or going over harder-to-navigate obstacles. He takes on challenges boldly, but he can get anxious when he feels confined in a ring, so he needs a riding partner who can be patient and understanding. Bert will be limited because of an old chip in his knee, and he would do best in a home where he can just walk on trails or be a pasture mate.
