Alvina is a a petite powerhouse with a lovable sweet nature. Her impressive pedigree didn’t shine through at the track, and she retired sound after only 7 starts. Alvina, nicknamed “Jellybean” is best suited for an ambitious intermediate rider and we think she would do well in jumpers or eventing. She seems to like the feeling of accomplishment in her work, and will appreciate a daily goal she can conquer. She is very athletic, and is quickly learning to maintain balance and rhythm in all gaits, while still working on picking up correct leads. She hacks around the farm alone or with company, is very willing and trainable, and is enjoying learning to jump!
She spends her mornings (and afternoons) snoozing in her stall..no doubt, saving up energy to buzz around under saddle. Speaking of “buzz” she hates bugs, and gets suited up from nose to tail in fly gear to keep her happy as a clam for turnout! We can’t save her from their biting while she works, thus she can be fussy trying to get them off while under saddle. She is quiet in the barn, waits patiently in cross ties, and is easy to handle on the ground. Day or night turnout is fine with her, and she currently goes out with a small group of mares and a gelding. She has learned to keep her distance from the alpha mare, and spends her time happily munching grass.
