Fonz is a big stout gelding who has a great disposition. He retired from racing in July and has had a couple weeks of down time.  We have started him back under saddle and he is actually a bit lazy.  Isn’t bother by much and is very content with life. He has no apparent injuries and is moving very well.  This big guy could easily carry a larger rider.  He should be suitable for most disciplines including eventing or hunters.  Fonz raced 37 times and won just over 50K.  He is by Lac Ouimet and out of a Premiership dam.

He is a chance to get a nice young sound almost black gelding.  Draco rance his last race 6/7 and just arrived to New Vocations in August.  He has already settled in well and seems more than ready to start a new career.  He is a well mannered guy who only raced 14 times.  He was retired because he was not competitive.  Draco is a nice mover and has willing disposition.  He should be suitable for any discipline.  Draco appears to have the mind needed in the hunter ring as well as the athletic ability needed as an eventer.  He has clean legs with no apparent injuries.  This one won’t stay around long.

What a beautiful, quiet horse.  Champ raced only six times, during his sixth race in February, he bowed his left front tendon and was immediately pulled up without finishing the race.  His owner, who bred and raised him made sure he got the best vetrinary care. He is fully rehabbed and ready for a new vocation.  This is a very steady, sensible horse.  Nothing much fazes him in the ring or on the trails.  He was very loved by his handler, who delivered him himself and was very sad to say good by to him.  It is very evident in his demeanor that he really enjoys his relationships with people.  Champ gets along well with other horses.

This handsome gelding was sold for $875,000 as a yearling. He is Irish bred by Giant’s Causeway and is also a grandson of Unbridled. This extremely well breed gelding shows his class. He has great conformation and a super nice mind. It is very effident that he not only had the best of care he also had quality training. He is naturally calm and easy to work with both on the ground and under saddle. Maillol was retired in late May due to a bowed tendon. He has been fully rehabbed and is ready for light riding. Maillol will be fine for anytype of flat work and should be fine for lower level jumping next year. Maillol has no vices and is truly a nice horse to be around.

“Sheza Sassy Lady” was a very nice race mare that raced her heart out for her owners for 11 years. Lady has huge, dark eyes that just pop out at you. They are BEAUTIFUL!! This special lady raced 213 times and earned over $75K. She raced every single year since she was a two year old! This outstanding mare is sound and has no freeze marks on her legs. Lady has seen it all!! She does not spook or look at anything!! My five year old was riding her bike all around her while standing in the crossties and she does not care! Lady has been ridden and was super under saddle. Lady will pace under saddle and would make a great speed racking mare or broodmare. She also would be very suitable as a driving mare. Lady did come to us underweight. She is now getting all she can eat and is beginnig to gain weight. Lady is fine turned out with other horses and really just wants to eat grass! She has just been wormed and has her current coggins and shots. This nice mare is going to make someone a fancy riding horse!! She is a special little mare!

“Two Dot Wellington” is a big, pretty, black pacing mare that earned over $100,000 as a racehorse. This mare has “class” written all over her! Dot got her name because she has two stars on her forhead, which is very rare.  Dot has been a great broodmare the past seven years. Her foals have also done well at the track as well. She was donated because they could not get her in foal a year ago. Dot has been ridden by a teenager and is very good under saddle.  Dot paces under saddle and was very good to ride. Dot will make an excellent trail or driving horse, although she has not raced since 2001. She is not spooky or looky as she seen it all!  Dot is 16.1 and a very big girl. She is very sweet and kind.  Dot is also a very good mother. She is fine turned out with other horses and tends to keep to herself.  She is up to date on shots & coggins.

The sky is the limit on items for the auction.  It can be as big as a horse trailer or as small as a piece of jewelry.  Vacation, entertainment, and golf packages are always popular, as well as, equine art, sports memorabilia, tack and new merchandise.  Equine and human services are appealing, too.  Just about everybody can donate something.  Use your imagination.

Goldy is a sweet natured mare who ran her last race 7/28/08. With only a short amount of time off she is already proven to be a nice riding horse. She has a beautitful trot. Goldy has no apparent injuries but she did race 40 times. She should be suitable for anytype of lower level competition such as dressage, hunters 2′6″ and lower. She would also make a nice hunter broodmare. She as a pretty face, long neck and good movement. She does slightly toe in but she doesn’t interfer with herself (see photo). She is thin but gaining weight quickly. Goldy will continue to fill out and bloom with more time.

Rubi has a wealth of experience.  He raced for 3 years and then was retired due to a lack of speed and went on to be a hunter/ jumper.  Rubi has had the same owner for the last 8 yrs.  She donated him to New Vocations because she no longer can keep him and wanted to ensure that he got a good home.  Rubi has great movement.  He has been ridden and shown as a hunter but tends to get excited over fences (shown 2′6″-3′).  We feel it would be in his best interest to do a discipline other than hunters.  He simply doesn’t have the calm nature that is needed in the hunter fence classes.  He is great on the flat, very calm and well mannered.  He could easily excel as a dressage mount.  Rubi could also do hunter paces or foxhunting.  He has been trail ridden and seems to enjoy it.   Rubi has no vices and has a friendly disposition.

Famous is a handsome gelding who raced only 13 times but won over 120K.  He retired in March due a condylar fracture of his right ankle.  Famous under went surgery to repair the fracture, was fully rehabbed and is now starting to work under saddle again.  His vet report stated that he could actually return to racing but his owners opted not to do so.  Famous is doing extremely well.  He loves attention and has a great personality.  Famous is young but very mature for his age.  Very sensible under saddle and it should not take much for him to learn a new discipline.  He should be suitable for any flat work and eventually recreational jumping.  He has no vices.

City is a stunning filly. She is not huge in size but she does have huge movement. City has great conformation and is well balanced. She has a beautiful head and large eye. City would be an excellent broodmare. She should mature to be around 15.3h. City raced only 5 times and her last race was 7/22. We are giving her some down time to simply relax prior to starting her back under saddle. She has no apparent injuries and was retired because she was not competitive. She is by Ago who is a son of Danzig and out of a Gold Legend mare. She has both Northern Dancer and Seattle Slew in her pedigree. City’s only vice is that she is a cribber but can be controlled with a strap.

Amber is a large stout mare with a thick frame.  She only raced 10 times and retired because she was not competitive.  Amber’s only blemish is an old set osselet on her left front ankle but it doesn’t bother her and she still has good flexion.  She left the track in July and has only had a short amount of down time.  Currently she is barefoot and moving sound (see video).  She does need some grociers but should fill out nicely.  Amber is a great mare to ride.  She is very responsive and wants to please.  She has a soft mouth and steady stride.  Amber would make an excellent sport horse broodmare or dressage mount.  She is by Casey On Deck and our of a Chief Persuasion mare.

“Atar” is a beautiful and sweet two year old mare, by Artistic,  that had no desire to race. Her trainer said that she only would go around the track two times and then was done.  The trainer had an “animal communiator” talk with Atar and found out she prefers to be called “Rosebud” and wants to be an english horse.  “Rosebud” was sent to New Vocations to find a new home!

“Rosebud” has been driven since her yearling year and is a very good driving horse that has been driven down dirt roads and spooks at nothing when being driven. Rosebud is well on her way to being a riding horse as well. She has been ridden and is wonderful with a rider.  She has had basic ground work and can back, turn on the forhand and haunches.  Rosebud is excellent in crossties, loves being bathed and wonderful for the farrier.  She will make a super trail horse or driving horse. Rosebud likes to set her head high and proud and has some nice motion when she trots. She looks like a Hackney horse when going and is very classy. I would say she is much for suited as a riding or driving horse verses a racehorse! This mare is ready to begin her new career!

Desert Magic is an approved Oldenburg NA and is in the Main Mare Book. She raced as a 2 yr old but was unsuccessful due to a paralyzed left vocal cord.  She was retired and went on to do some dressage training however she was unable to continue training due to her breathing condition.  She then became a successful broodmare.  Her last two foals were from prominent warmblood stallions with an emphasis on jumping.  The first foal, a filly named Piccolina is by Pikadero, lives at Goose Chase Farm and is in training to be a jumper.  The second foal, a cold named Indypendce (photo is posted below) is by Ideal, as a yearling he stands at 15.1h.  For his inspection by the Oldenburg NA registry he recieved premium status with a score of 8. Magic was not bred back this year  because her owner is cutting back on her herd.  She is still breeding sound and could produce more quality foals.  She is a big 17h mare who is easy to handle.  Magic is located at Goose Chase Farm in NY but will be adopted through New Vocations.  For more information you will need to contact the farm directly at kimkokoska@gmail.com

This is a big framed, strong pacing gelding that raced ten consecutive seasons and earned $222,220!  He’s competed from Ohio to New York and many states in between.  This fellow has been thousands of miles in harness, stood endless hours in crossties, had a couple of thousand baths, and has been shipped and shod at least a hundred times!  Doc rode so confidently the first time, that I expect one of his grooms along the way may have ridden him at the track.  He walked confidently down the road on a loose rein, and picked up a smooth single foot when asked to move faster.  Slight rein pressure or a jiggle of the bit kept him on gait.  Doc has had three months of R & R for a pulled suspensory behind.  He is quite sound on it and romps and plays like a colt.   Doc knows he’s special and can be a little opinionated.  However, a former owner assures me, Doc is a real pussy cat once all the hormones wear off.   This fellow is so rich in life experiences that he should make an awesome trail or reenactment mount. 

Billy is a flashy 3 yr old gelding who only raced 5 times and was retired due to a lack of speed. He only left the track in early June. Billly has had some down time and has adjusted well to group turnout. He has been started back under saddle and is doing well. Billy is a very sensitive gelding and will need someone who is patient to work with him. He is green but very teachable. Under saddle he has a soft mouth and is attentive to your every command. With the proper training he would make a wonderful hunter/jumper or even dressage mount. Billy is by Holly Bull and out of a Hennessy mare.

This is a rare opportunity to get a flashy thoroughbred who is a really nice, big mover and has tremendous athletic ability with a powerful motor. He has gained some weight and has a muscular, bulky look like a quarter horse.  Copper has been retired for a year, trained by his owner and trained at an eventing barn in North Carolina.  He has a beautiful, huge trot and a lovely, balanced “sit aback in the sofa” canter.  He has a wonderful attitude and is just lovely to be around.  He does well on the trails and even handled walking clamly past the alligators on his previous owners many trail rides. He is a light cribber.

This big bodied black mare raced successfully, raised three foals, and is now ready to become a pleasure mount.  Taxi did so well her first time undersaddle that I suspect she was ridden by her groom at the track.  She stood quietly to be mounted and walked off down our country road.  She’s the best mount I’ve had to stand quietly under the mulberry tree while I eat my fill.  Taxi does look at strange sights and snorts when appropriate, then she accepts it and moves on.  This is normal for a horse that hasn’t done much for several years.  Taxi is very pretty, a true black, though she is a bit bleached.  She has an intelligent, pleasant eye and a beautiful head and neck with a trim throat.  Taxi is somewhat pigeon-toed.  Her heavy weight makes her even more broad chested which exaggerates the toe-in conformation.  She raced successfully, so it’s not an issue.  Taxi walks nicely on a loose rein.  She’ll gait naturally if you pick her up in the bridle or she’ll trot on a relaxed rein.  Both gaits are smooth.  This high quality, well bred mare should bring years of enjoyment to her adopter.  She’s ready to trail ride now. 

Coast is a fancy black gelding who never made it to his first race. He was started as a three year old but during training both front suspensories became sore. He was officially taken out of training in June of this year for the same reason. Coastal has had some down time and has just started some under saddle work. He is a stout gelding who appears much bigger than he is. He does measure 15.3h but he doesn’t have much of a wither. Coast is cleared for light schooling and small paddock turn out. His ankles will only get better with time. He is young and with time should be suitable for any type of flat work and possibly some lower level jumping in the future.
